Group assessment has been an integral part of curriculum design the world over. Group assessment poses a number of challenges for both students and faculty. The objectives were to study the experience of students in group assessment, to study student-faculty perspective about fairness of group assessment and to find an effective strategy to increase satisfaction level. The study adopted a descriptive research design and judgmental sampling. Three different populations were studied: students, faculty and alumni through close-ended and open-ended questionnaires. Findings revealed that students felt that faculty was unfair in assessing individual contributions and suggested that faculty maintain a detailed log to track performance. The need was felt for 'appeal forum' to discuss problems. It was felt that alumni interaction would help students comprehend the importance of group work early in life. An 'Evaluation model' to assess the progress of students in a systematic manner would help increase satisfaction levels of students.
