Italian oil company Eni has been awarded a deepwater block offshore China by China National Offshore Oil Corp. CNOOC has signed a production sharing contract with Eni for Block 30/27 in the South China Sea. The block is 400 km off the coast of Hong Kong and covers a total area of 5,130 sq km. It was one of 19 blocks offered in CNOOC's 2011 licensing round in May.
