Taiwan's Cabinet, the Executive Yuan, will push the Legislature to approve renewable energy measures this year to encourage private investment and to help the country transition to a low-carbon society, Premier Liu Chao-shiuan said April 16.rnLiu made the remark at the closing ceremony of the National Energy Conference, a two-day advisory meeting attended by government officials and representatives from industry, academia, and environmental interest groups.rnOn the opening day of the same conference, President Ma Ying-jeou stressed the urgency of establishing a legal basis for Taiwan to develop renewable energy projects. Ma said lawmakers should condense eight versions of a bill on renewable energy and pass the negotiated text by the end of this session in June.
