Canada Proposes Rules to Better Enforce International Ship-Source Pollution Standards

Canada's federal government Nov. 5 proposed regulations that generally would prohibit releases of pollutants into the marine environment, including oil, noxious liquids, harmful substances in packaged form, sewage, garbage, and certain air pollutants. The proposed Vessel Pollution and Dangerous Chemicals Regulations are designed to support the government's ongoing implementation of international conventions that prohibit releases of pollutants from vessels.
