U.S., European Agencies to Collaborate On Chemical Management, Risk Assessments

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and European Chemicals Agency announced Dec. 17 that they will work together on chemical management, releasing a statement of intent that specifies areas for exchanging information and technical expertise. According to the statement on chemicals management, EPA and the EU agency plan to cooperate on scientific information about chemicals and risk assessments; exchange of information about each others' regulatory responsibilities; dissemination of public information related to each other's activities; and sharing information on risk identification and risk management, among other things.
