Canada Proposes Regulations to Protect Water Resources in Northernmost Territory

Proposed federal regulations would establish a water management regime for Canada's northernmost territory, Nunavut, including a system to authorize both usage and waste deposits in water by industry and clarification of spill reporting requirements.Waste deposits cover the discharge into water of any waste, other than sewage to a sump. Spills are identified only as deposits of substances for which a license would have been required but was not obtained.
