Ukrainian Seaports Authority Announces Port of Yuzhny Dredging Contract

After some false starts in the bidding process for a variety of dredging operations at the Port of Yuzhny in Ukraine, in April the Ukrainian Seaports Authority (USPA) awarded a major dredging contract to the China Harbor Engineering Company Ltd. (CHEC), a subsidiary of China Communications Construction Company Ltd. (CCCC). CHEC is a major player in the international dredging market and is active in Africa, Asia and the Middle East. The present contract is for $39.8 million for capital dredging projects at Yuzhny Port. The development of the Yuzhny Port will include dredging at three berths, numbers 23, 24 and 25, as well as the reconstruction of the marine approach canal and internal water approach canals to deep-water berths.
