Great Lakes Dredge & Dock Announces Dredging Contract Awards

Great Lakes Dredge & Dock Corporation announced the receipt of a several dredging awards totaling $164 million. The awards include work for coastal proection: 1. the Long Beach project in New York ($54.4 million); 2. the Myrtle Beach project in South Carolina ($34.8 million); 3. the Nags Head Beach project in North Carolina ($34.7 million); 4. the Chesapeake Beach project in Maryland ($4.8 million); And capital dredging: 5. the Corpus Christi La Quinta Channel Widening project in Texas ($21.0 million); and 6. the Delaware River Deepening Variation Order in Delaware ($14.3 million). The four coastal protection projects include beach nourishment with sand excavated from off-shore borrow areas. The dunes and shoreline that were eroded by winter storms will be rebuilt. The Long Beach project began in July and the Myrtle Beach project began August 19 (see North America Dredging Roundup page 28). Those and the remainder of the coastal protection projects are expected to be completed by May 2019.
