ARC Northern's Ingleton Quarry in the UK is noted not only for its state-of-the-art plant and environmentally-sympathetic installation, but most especially for its high-grade gritstone. "Green granite", as it is known locally, with a PSV (polished stone value) of more than 60, makes it one of the hardest-wearing road-surfacing materials available in the country, but in the quarrying process it presents one of the most severe tests for loader tyres.
