When you think of construction, it is common to have a vision of work being carried out above ground, but far more goes on than what can be immediately seen. Below ground, drilling rigs are delving almost as deep into the earth as the tallest of cranes stands above them. Though the resultant labour of these machines may not be immediately obvious, it is worth casting a spotlight on this technologically advancing area of construction. One such highlight in technological innovation has been created by Liebherr in the form of the world's first electric drilling rig - the Liebherr LB16 Unplugged. The machine is modelled on Liebherr's existing diesel variant, the LB16, but the Unplugged variant has an electro-hydraulic and battery mode.
