Patrick Grother and Elaine Newton are being recognized this month for their outstanding contributions to standardization activities and to the enhancement of the global voluntary consensus standards system. Both staffers, who work at the National Institute of Standards and Technology's (NIST) Information Technology Laboratory, received these special honors from the American National Standards Institute. Grother, a biometric testing project leader, was awarded the Edward Lohse Information Technology Medal for his work in promoting cooperation among those involved in global IT standardization.
