Public Librarians Flock to Indianapolis

Bracketed between Big Ten basketball and Indiana Comic Con, the Public Library Association's (PLA) biennial conference, held in Indianapolis March 11-15, 2014, drew nearly 8,000 public librarians along with a smattering of public library trustees and a large contingent of exhibitors. Having the Big Ten men's basketball tournament in town (Michigan State won) meant some librarians could only obtain hotel rooms at the airport or far north of the city. PLA added bus service to these locations to minimize the travel trauma.
