Rail Infrastructure Development

Transport infrastructure plays a key role in over all development of any region. Inadequate infrastructure in the North Eastern region has been a major hindrance in the socio-economic development of the Northeast India. North Eastern region has been historically suffering from abject infrastructure and an impoverished communication network. It was cut off from the mainland after the formation of East Pakistan post-independence. An efficient rail, road and air network is key to accomplish this. Railways have already undertaken projects to provide BG rail connectivity to all the north-eastern states and strengthened it network in the region.
