Study on the Process of Predischarge in Rocket-triggered Lightning by Streak Photograph

The experiment of triggered lightning by rocket has been carried out for the real power transmission line tower and the real lightning rod. The predischarge phenomena including leader propagation to the test objects were studied with the streak photography by moving film camera and with the observation of the discharge current wave and the electric field change at ground. The steeped leader of negative polarity was observed to propagate downward to the grounded object, then the upward leader of positive polarity propagated from the rocket to the cloud contineously.
