Wireless local- and personal-area networks provide complimentarynservices in the same unlicensed (UL) radio frequency band of operation.nAs the mutual benefits of utilizing these services become increasinglynapparent, the likelihood of mutual interference may also increase. Anmethod was developed for examining wireless services coexistence innorder to evaluate the impact that interference may have on networknperformance. The methodology for the analysis was centered on deriving anclosed-form solution for the probability of collision Pr[C] in terms ofnthe network and radio propagation parameters. In addition, a set ofnmeasures of performance was derived based on Pr[C]. In this fashion, thennetwork performance was investigated in regards to the presence ofninterference. The approach was then illustrated by examining thencoexistence between 802.11b and Bluetooth UL band wireless services andnsummarizing the impact on network performance
