IPLAN (interface programming language), a high-level control language that can be used to enhance an application program's scope and capability, is discussed. IPLAN has many features found in BASIC and Fortran, with the addition of graphics and forms (simplified window data entry) subroutines. When the language is embedded within a host program, users can develop customized applications that augment the host program. The program's usefulness to engineers is detailed. Several of its power system engineering applications, namely voltage collapse analysis, line drop and circulating current compensation, and the creation of user-defined forms are examined.
