Technical cooperation remains key component in aviation development

In the early days of the ICAO technical cooperation programme (TCP), few could have imagined the role it is now called on to play as a consequence of the events of 11 September. ICAO member States are being urged to avail themselves of the programme in implementing aviation security action plans expected to arise from mandatory security system audits that are to commence in 2002-03. As was the case with safety oversight, training and numerous other aviation realms, ICAO's technical cooperation programme is considered an important contributor to efforts by States to enhance global civil aviation security worldwide.
