Imagine this: An employee is suing your company, claiming her supervisor discriminated against her. You're confident you'll win, because this supervisor is a good and fair person, and the employee's evidence is scanty. But when a judge and/or jury hear the case, something shocking happens: The employee calls witnesses who claim another supervisor, in a totally different part of the organization, discriminated against them in a similar way. The court believes them, decides there's a pattern of bias, and awards the employee six figures in damages.
