摘要

The changes in rent rules for public housing and Section 8 tenants in the Section 8 reform bill (H.R. 5443) will help a large number of tenants, raise rents for some families, and keep income-based rents in place, a goal of tenant advocates, according to a Center on Budget and Policy and Priorities (CBPP) analysis of the measure. The House Financial Services Committee approved the bill on June 14, and it will probably be brought to the floor this fall. While the Senate is unlikely to take up comparable legislation, some or all of the reform bill could be attached to appropriations legislation late this year. (For background on the bill, see Current Developments, Vol. 34, No. CD-13, p. 388.)
