Both Houses Pass Funding Bills with Additional Aid for Hurricane Relief

The House passed an emergency fiscal 2007 supplemental appropriations bill (H.R. 1591) March 23 that would provide additional funds for Gulf hurricane recovery efforts, along with extension of the disaster voucher program (DVP) through the end of calendar 2007. The bill also includes other Section 8 provisions. The Senate passed its version of the legislation on March 29. However, prospects for enactment of the bill in its current form are remote because of provisions for troop withdrawals from Iraq.
