I recently decided to extend the capability of my system, which comprises a Quad Elite preamp, CD player and tuner [HFN Jan '11], QSP power amplifier [HFN Apr '12] and 2912 speakers by incorporating streaming. After some research, I purchased a new streamer/DAC from a trusted hi-fi brand and installed Qobuz in anticipation of being able to enjoy the delights of hi-res audio. Initially I was impressed by the sound quality, but then came the hitch. Listening to a recording of the Strauss Alpine Symphony, the music was interrupted by one-second gaps in what should have been a continuous stream of music. The gaps clearly coincided with the cue points present on the original CD. No amount of adjustment could initiate gapless playback, even though Qobuz advertises this as a selling point.
