Because maybe it's not something you hear tossed around every day in polite conversation. It's got a whiff of officialdom-an air of rules and regulations. So that's why maybe-in the face of all this jargon and industry-speak-we've forgotten why we're complying in the first place. And the answer is-as it always should be-about people. It's about the 3.5 million moms and dads, uncles, aunts, sons, daughters, and grandmas and grandpas that are driving freight across this country every single day. It's about all the people in the back offices, in the warehouses, and all those inspectors at the scale houses along the way. It's about the law enforcement officers protecting our roads, and the workers in the freight yards and the stores stocking our shelves. And it's about all the regu- lar folks out on the highways as they're going to work, to school, and traveling to see their friends and families. And, most of all-it's about keeping every single one of those people safe. It's about keeping all those people protected. Because at the end of the day, it's about serving others. And that's why our industry has Hours of Service, not Hours of Work, or Hours of Driving-but service. Because service is core to everything we do. That's why our mission is to improve the safety, efficiency, and physical security of all the businesses that keep our economy moving.
