It's good to talk to someone who isn't full of doom and gloom for a change. Whereas for months, the Bulletin's industrial packaging pages have been treading a gloomy route through tales of economic woe, where over-supplied markets and high raw material costs have forced companies down dead ends, Blagden Packaging represents a lush oasis of enterprise and growth. Taking time out of his busy schedule, chief executive officer Marc Verstraete describes the company's recent activity, including considerable internal development, several self-financed acquisitions and future plans for more. So how does the company do it? "By offering a full service, that's how we stay in business," asserts Verstraete. Developing the list of services it offers to customers, Blagden is busy strengthening its drum manufacturing and reconditioning network in terms of technology, logistics and company transparency.
