3S: Students Summer Seminar

Encouraged by ISPRS, a memorandum of understanding was signed in April 2009 between three major universities in the fields of photogrammetry, RS and SIS. Two belong to the Russian Federation: the Siberia State Academy for Geodesy and Cartography, Novosibirsk (formerly NIIGAiK) and the Moscow State University for Geodesy and Cartography (MIIGAiK). The third is Wuhan University in China. The same occasion saw the proposal of a summer seminar where experts address students of the three universities. Two further meetings with university representatives resulted in agreement to hold these '3S' student seminars annually, beginning in September 2010. Next year the seminar will move to Wuhan University, and in summer 2012 MIIGAiK, Moscow.
