The bulk of Syria's conventional military equipment is of a rapidly aging nature. This bodes ill for any future regional wars against chief rival Israel, which fields a first-class military equipped with the latest-generation weapons. By comparison, Syria's force structure looks increasingly creaky and aged. Syria is further hindered by not having the financial resources to substantially improve its force structure, and is shut out by many critical suppliers of advanced equipment.
