Ford motor is sitting on $30 billion or so in cash and securities. The money keeps pouring in. J.P. Morgan & Co. figures Ford pockets $8,000 pretax on each Expedition and $12,000 on each Lincoln Navigator, a sister car. That's $2.5 billion on that one basic design. What nice things can Ford do with its cash? Or maybe we should say, with the $10 billion to $15 billion of extra cash, because in Detroit it's normal to want $15 billion or so in the kitty for a rainy day.
