Shamed by the substantive budget/tax/health reform proposals of Representative Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) and embarrassed by his image as remote and irresolute, President Obama finally issued ideas to curb spending and deal with the looming entitlement disasters. Despite his handlers' proclaiming that the President is moving to the center a la Bill Clinton during the second half of his first term, Obama is displaying Jimmy Carter-like stubbornness, with a dose of Joe McCarthyesque dem-agoguery.
