The black tea market remains vast, with its market value topping over £411 million, representing 81% of the volume of total tea sales. It also remains the UK's most popular type of tea, to the relief of many. But other types of tea are making great strides in growth, with fruit and herbal teas accounting for more than £75 million of sales, at a three per cent volume, followed by speciality tea at £42 million with a three per cent volume and decaf at over £40 million and five per cent volume. The green tea market grew by 7.8% in a 12 month period, representing over £32 million in value and two per cent of volume. The tea industry as a whole remains buoyant, with sales topping over £643 million.
