In 2009, Messrs Morton and Eden auctioned the medals of Wg Cdr Henry Ramsbottom-lsherwood on behalf of his daughter. The sale attracted a huge amount of interest and very lively bidding resulting in them being 'hammered' down for £46,000. , There was a strange twist in the tale. The auctioneer's researchers discovered that although the Isherwood medal had 7384' engraved on its rear face, the Order Book accompanying the original medal (presented by the Soviet Ambassador in London during March 1942) identified his medal as 738V.
