GST changes won't stop offshore shopping spree

A new study just by MasterCard found that, while 79% of Australians oppose reductions to exemption levels, it won't quell their appetite to spend their money buying products overseas online. The study was conducted online last November by Galaxy Research for MasterCard. According to MasterCard Australia's vice president strategy and corporate affairs, David Masters, specifically, among frequent online shoppers surveyed, 38% said a change would have no impact on their behaviour, while a further 24% said the move would only cause them to buy online less often.
