Commission still hopes to revise Solidarity Fund

The European Commission has not given up on the idea of reviewing the functioning of the EU Solidarity Fund, even if this dossier has been blocked by the Council of Ministers since 2005. The annual report 2008 on the functioning of the fund' is noteworthy in that it provides an assessment of six years of application of this instrument, created in 2002 to help member states affected by major natural disasters.
