The European Parliament wants simpler and clearer rules on public procurement. Voting massively in favour of a report by Heide Riihle (Greens-EFA, Germany), on 25 October, MEPs made it perfectly clear to Internal Market Commissioner Michel Barnier that they want a "cautious but ambitious reform," in the rapporteur's words, of public procurement, which accounts for 17% to 19% of GDP in the EU.
