Turner's innovative use of perspective is explored through the analysis of three of his paintings - Petworth Park (1828), Snowstorm (1842) and Rain, Steam and Speed (1844) - in order to examine how he stretched the conventions of the technique he professed at the Royal Academy, how he brought momentum and dynamism into it, and to what extent his creativity took him beyond the prevailing perspectival paradigm.
