Food Fight!

During the 2012 election, California became the battleground in a national proxy war over genetically engineered food. A ballot initiative facing the state's 12 million voters was Proposition 37, "A Mandatory Labeling of Genetically Engineered Food Initiative." If passed, it would have forced food manufacturers selling products in the state to reveal which products contained genetically modified, or GMO, ingredients.
