The relatively new fields of ecocriticism and postcolonial literary studies have recently gained considerable scholarly traction among academics whose work aims for greater public relevance and more engagement with an increasingly complex and globalized world. But as Laura Wright notes in the introduction to WilderneAA into Civilized Shapes, although these two fields share similarly activist and revisionist purposes, there has been relatively little done within the nascent field of postcolonial ecocriticism.
