French super food and environment agency starts up

The new French mega agency for food, environmental and occupational safety commencesrnwork on 1 July with the acronym ANSES - Agence nationale pour la securite environmentale et sanitaire.rnANSES takes over the work of both the French food safety agency AFSSA and AFSSET the national environmental and occupational health agency. The French government decided to merge the two to avoid duplication in their risk assessment work, especially for areas of overlap such as genetically modified organisms (GMOs) and nanotechnologies.
