New EFSA rules do not call old opinions into question

The European Food Safety Authority's (EFSA) new implementing rules on independence do not call into question existing opinions, panel members or experts, agency officials were quick to stress last week. In an EFSA press briefing ahead of a half-day conference to launch the agency's new implementing rules for its independence policy on 5 March, Hubert Deluyker, the agency's Director of Science Strategy & Co-ordination, made clear that the policy was not a revamp and that things were already being done this way. It was just more visible and up front in the new rules.
