Inspector General Report Prompts EPA To Stop Using Risk Inspection Contractors

The Environmental Protection Agency has stopped using contractors to conduct risk management inspections in states in which the agency is precluded from doing so by federal court rulings, according to a memo released May 14.EPA discontinued its use after the agency's inspector general brought the practice to light."We are committed to assessing the situation and taking timely corrective action as warranted by our more in-depth assessment of current practices and any potential legal ramifications of those practices," EPA told the inspector general in the memo.
