EPA Develops Plan for States to Comply With Guidelines for Sludge Incinerators

The Environmental Protection Agency has developed a plan for states that didn't submit their own plan for implementing emissions guidelines for existing sewage sludge incinerator units. The proposal (RIN 2060-AR77), signed by EPA Administrator Gina McCarthy April 7, would establish a schedule for compliance with the emissions guidelines, procedures for submitting test data to the EPA annual inspection requirements and provisions for requiring Clean Air Act operating permits for facilities with incinerator units. The guidelines apply to units constructed before Oct. 14, 2010.
