PURPOSE: A sludge incinerator and a method for incinerating sludge are provided to save auxiliary fuel by preheating air inputted into a furnace. CONSTITUTION: A sludge inlet is formed at a lower portion of an incinerator(11). A screw conveyer(22) is connected to a dehydrating sludge hopper(19). A rotary valve is provided between the dehydrating sludge hopper(19) and the screw conveyer(22). A sand inlet is formed at an upper portion of the sludge inlet. A rotary valve(18) is installed at a lower end of a cyclone(12). Combustion chambers are formed at upper and lower portions of the incinerator(11). A heat exchanger(8) is installed to increase the temperature of fuel. An air nozzle is formed at a bottom of the incinerator(11). A purifying plate is positioned between the air nozzle and an air inlet in order to remove dust contained in air. Ash and sand are discharged out of the incinerator(11) by way of an ash discharging port and a sand discharging port.
