The Federal Highway Administration is offering "on-call technical assistance" to help agencies implement an integrated planning approach for developing infrastructure projects based on ecological priorities. Dubbed " Eco-Logical," the approach was first developed in 2005 as a cooperative effort among nine federal agencies seeking to balance infrastructure project planning and development in a way that better promotes ecosystem sustainability. The approach advocates integrating plans across agency boundaries and endorses ecosystem-based mitigation of potential impacts from infrastructure.
