Shirley Olinger is promoted to manager of the U.S. Energy Dept's Office of River Protection at its 560-sq-mile Hanford former nuclear production complex in Washington state. Her responsibilities include overseeing one of the nation's largest cleanup and construction sites. She had been deputy manager and acting manager this past year. Olinger had managed construction of a $500-million tank farm infrastructure project at Hanford, and a radioactive liquid-waste treatment plant at the Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard in Hawaii.
