The bomb cyclone made one of Nebraska's most beautiful rivers look like a war zone. The mid-March storm unleashed flooding that overtopped a dam and scoured the landscape along the Niobrara River in North Central Nebraska. The flood also cut a new south channel, washing away pavement and embankment leading to the U.S. Highway 281 bridge near Spencer.
