A mong the many short-lived 'dot-corns'bearing ever-more incomprehensible names which sprang up prior to the inevitable bursting of the fragile business-bubble, the Internet search engine 'Google', founded just five years ago by two young American entrepreneurs Sergey Brin and Larry Page, has not only survived the boom-and-bust, but has become a thriving business. Now so familiar to Internet surfers the world over, that to ask if someone has Googled no longer sounds like an enquiry about personal dyspepsia, the search engine has become if not indispensable, then certainly a vitally useful tool to nearly all of us in today's wired world.
