Biodiesel Production from Vegetable Oil Mixtures: Cottonseed, Soybean, and Castor Oils

The use of vegetable oils and their derivatives as a source of energy, replacing mainly fossil fuel, brings forth not only a new element to the energetic matrix of a nation but also new tendencies on economical, social, and environmental issues. Biodiesel is now the most important product of this new trend. It is a renewable fuel, which can now be produced mainly by the transesterification reaction, using vegetable oils and short-chain alcohols in the presence of catalysts.
