Anyone who has designed an FPGA knows that the design tools used are as important as the performance of the FPGA. I think most EEs would agree that these tools have gotten a lot better in the last five years or so - and that's good because the FPGAs available have gotten bigger and faster and there is a lot more IP available. So a quick review of the FPGA design tool set is in order.
