Contemporary mobile phone design demands a high degree of chip-level integration, quite often using mixed-signal technology, with a simultaneous requirement for low power consumption. As a result, almost any semiconductor device for wireless applications is a true system on a chip (SoC), with multiple blocks of complex functionality linked by high-speed buses.
