Things will never be the same following the events of Sept. 11. The attacks are one of those unforeseen variables that toss all previous forecasts right out the window. An economy teetering on the edge of recession was shaken at its financial core and economic recovery will now surely be delayed into the first half of next year. Consumer spending — accounting for roughly two-thirds of U.S. gross domestic product — is now in jeopardy of being slashed due to the uncertainties of this war.
