Many factors are involved in achieving world-class manufacturing yields in a high-volume operation such as Intel's assembly facility in Puerto Rico, which has six high-speed manufacturing lines and one high-mix, low-volume line. The assemblies produced here include motherboards, NIC cards and various branded products incorporating 20-mil fine-pitch devices, BGAs, 0603 capacitors and resistors, as well as through-hole mounted devices.
