Learning lunar-landing lessons

THIS AUGUST was the 35th anniversary of the first manned landing on the moon. The date got some media attention but not as much as it should have. I can understand that reluctance, because 35 years in our technology-driven environment puts us back in nearly prehistoric times. But I decided to use the occasion to take a look back, and reread the excellent 1989 book Apollo: Race to the Moon by Charles Murray and Catherine Ely Cox. It examines the engineering and management of the manned-spacecraft program.
